Westdoc
Out of Hours Urgent GP Care

 

Westdoc is an out-of-hours urgent GP service which commenced operation on 2nd December 2002. Westdoc covers the Galway, Mayo and Roscommon area providing a service for patients whose GP’s are members of Westdoc and other eligible persons. Westdoc deals with approximately 80,000 calls each year.

 

The out-or-hours service enhances medical services as provided by the General Practitioner and the emergency service. 

Westdoc operates outside normal GP surgery hours i.e. between 18:00hrs and 09:00hrs, Monday to Thursday and from 18:00hrs on Friday to 09:00hrs on Monday; it also covers the 24-hour period over Bank Holidays. 

Westdoc operates on an appointment only system.

Westdoc aims to provide the highest possible standard of care at all times; patients should feel that they have been dealt with in a friendly, courteous manner and that all that can be done for them has been done.

 

Westdoc is responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate and individual holistic care. Westdoc care delivery is guided by legislative and procedural directives that are updated, as appropriate.

 

Westdoc is part-funded by the Health Service Executive.
